A New Name & More

One of the most fun things we have experienced with our little group is the way it has adapted to reach a vision for reaching even more moms in our neighborhoods. Two years ago we launched "Mommy Meet Up". Vanessa did a great job of paving the way for a successful Moms ministry. We had Playgroups at the church, field trips in the area, mom's nights out, monthly MOPS meetings and gatherings in her home. This past Summer Vanessa and her family moved to Oregon, and has passed the baton to our team. With that comes a further building on the foundation Vanessa and the team has laid. My dear friend, and co-leader, Becky Keife, wrote this article for Cornerstone's September newsletter to explain these exciting changes! We are working on a new website and will link this blog to the new site once we get it up and running.

The heart to connect, encourage, and equip moms of all ages and stages will stay the same. But the name has changed. Welcome to MOMS!

Named for our mission to Make Our Mothering Significant, MOMS is a “new” Cornerstone ministry that will merge the fun playgroups and field trips of Mommy MeetUp and the special speakers and fellowship of MOPS into one comprehensive ministry for mothers.

MOMS will launch in October with an extended format. The first and third Thursday of every month will be our MOMS meeting. Come be refreshed with hot coffee and a delicious breakfast as we share the journey of motherhood together. To help us explore this year’s theme, “A Beautiful Mess”, our meetings will have an exciting mix of dynamic speakers, table discussions, personal testimonies, creative projects, and prayer.

The second Thursday of each month will be our MOMS playdate, a fun time for moms (and grandmas) to share a slice of life as we play with our little ones. We’ll alternate between someone’s home, a gated park, and a local field trip.

Whether you’re a mom to a baby in diapers or a teen driver, we invite YOU to join us as we embrace the Beautiful Mess of motherhood and discover how we can Make Our Mothering Significant through Christ.

So mark your calendars for the MOMS fall kickoff: Thursday, October 3^rd from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. in the sanctuary. Real moms exploring real-life issues, ready to welcome the real you! Won’t you join us? And bring a friend, too!

Clean out your closets and de-clutter your cabinets so you can donate your unwanted stuff to our First Ever Goodwill Donation Drive!

Drop off your bags of clothes, shoes, housewares, toys, and more anytime Wednesday July 31-Friday August 2 under the big tent behind the church parking lot and Whitcomb house. Or bring your stuff to the big donation event on Saturday, August 3rd from 8am-2pm in the church parking lot.

Tell your friends, family, and neighbors! Everyone can help! Every bag counts! Our MOMS Ministry will earn money for every bin we fill! (Money that will help reach and encourage moms of all ages and stages in our community!) Need items picked up from your house? No problem! Want to find out how else you can help? Fantastic! July Happenings

Wasn't VBS awesome last week? This was the first year I was involved and what an incredibly enriching experience it was for us and our kids! Now that things are beginning to slow down again, we want to invite you to come to our July happenings! We hope you can make it to one or both of these fun gatherings. Summer is in full swing here in So Cal. We are taking a break from our regular activities and will go on a few outings with the kiddos!

Meet some animals at the LA Zoo, Thursday, June 6th. We will meet right inside the front entrance next to the seal-viewing window at 10. If you'd like, let us know you plan to come either here in a comment or on our FB page and we will be sure to wait for you. Pack a lunch or buy lunch from one of their venues.

On the 19th we are heading to the LA Arboretum. We will meet up for their Bookworms Storytelling. Plan to arrive 10 minutes early to meet up. Someone from the Arboretum will meet us at the front entrance and walk us to the storytelling location in the Arboretum. It's fun and involves a little craft for the kids to take home. Pack a lunch if you'd like!

This Thursday is our last MOPS meeting of the year! If you haven't had a chance to check it out, don't feel shy about coming! Take some time out to be still, hear an encouraging word, and gather as friends.There is still room at our tables, and moms eager to welcome you! Join us to hear Michelle Harrington speak about building our house upon a rock. She will be addressing physical and spiritual health. 

Then on the 16th we are heading to the park for a toy & clothing swap. Bring any gently used toys and children's clothing you would like to donate and take home some new-to-you treasures from a friend! Bring a sack lunch if you like!

We are officially taking a break for the Summer, but there will be a few informal gatherings, like a water play date and possibly a trip to the Arboretum. Will get those plans posted as soon as they're made! Blessings!

Playgroup and Night Out

The end of the year is coming quickly.  Here is what's happening this week for moms!

Mommy MeetUp Play Group is Thursday, May 2nd at 9:30am at Vanessa's home (322 N. Washington in Glendora).  This will be our last playgroup of the year. 

The kids get to play while the moms get to chat
We will have food and coffee!

Thursday is also our Ladies Night Out
